About the Grant:
Statewide program supporting disaster preparedness and collections preservation for California cultural heritage organizations, prioritizing under-represented communities and institutions with recent preservation/“Ready or Not” assessments. Eligible applicants include CA 501(c)(3) nonprofits, public/nonprofit higher ed, local governments, and federally recognized tribes in CA holding relevant collections. Standard Groundwork Grants fund supplies, environmental monitoring, training, planning, and minor building/site needs; Major Projects support larger upgrades (e.g., fire detection/suppression, facility renovations, storage systems). No match required. Projects must follow applicable codes/regulations; evaluation emphasizes need, impact on underserved communities, readiness assessments, feasible work plans, and appropriate budgets. Fully applicable to LA County institutions.
