About the Grant:
CAL FIRE’s Wildfire Prevention Grants fund hazardous fuels reduction, prevention planning, and prevention education in and near fire-threatened communities, with emphasis on public health/safety and GHG reductions. Eligible applicants include public agencies, tribes, and nonprofits. Projects may cover vegetation management, shaded fuel breaks, community chipping/defensible space programs, education/outreach, and planning. LA County jurisdictions and partners are eligible for projects in high fire-risk areas (e.g., wildland-urban interface). Funding comes from CCI/Cap-and-Trade and Proposition 4. Applications are submitted through the state’s grant portal; awards are typically reimbursements with possible advances. Treat this as a single active cycle (FY 2025–26) with a fixed deadline and reference the procedural guide for scope, match, environmental compliance, and performance periods.
