About the Grant:
The CASF Infrastructure Grant Account funds last-mile and middle-mile broadband infrastructure to reach unserved/underserved areas, targeting 98% household coverage in each region. Eligible applicants include telephone and cable providers, wireless ISPs, tribes, local governments, and joint ventures. Projects must meet speed, latency, and pricing requirements and coordinate with Regional Broadband Consortia. Applications are submitted to CPUC via FTP link request and evaluated for need, technical soundness, financial viability, and public benefit. For Los Angeles County, eligible projects can serve gaps in urban, foothill, and rural communities, as well as anchor institutions. CASF awards can be combined with federal funds (e.g., BEAD) and other state investments. The CPUC postponed the 2025 deadline to October 31, 2025 to synchronize with federal timelines; applicants should review the latest program guidelines and mapping to validate eligibility and challenge windows.
