About the Grant:

This program provides flexible funding to California Native American tribes (both federally recognized and non-recognized, through nonprofit partners) to assess and plan for sea level rise impacts on ancestral lands and cultural resources. It supports both pre-planning (visioning, outreach, vulnerability assessments) and adaptation planning activities. Awards are made through non-competitive, rolling quarterly cycles on a first-come basis. Projects aim to integrate traditional knowledge, support tribal consultation, and inform planning efforts absent land-use plan mandates.
