The FTA All Stations Accessibility Program (ASAP) is designed to improve access to America’s legacy transit systems for people with disabilities. Many older rail stations were built before the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and lack elevators, ramps, or accessible boarding platforms. This program provides funding to retrofit those facilities and make them fully accessible to all riders. ASAP strengthens mobility equity and ensures that transit systems truly serve everyone—especially in metropolitan areas with aging infrastructure.
